Sunapee Cruise

Please join us on October 3rd from 11am to 1pm for our annual Sunapee Cruise. Free to all NHPS members and their families. Please email Catrina Watson to register. Leaves from Sunapee Harbor, Sunapee NH.

Legislative Update

The NHPS worked closely with the Dupont group and NH medical society to identify important bills to support and oppose during the 2026 legislative session. The NHPS weighed in on numerous bills that impact New Hampshire psychiatrists and their patients. The NHPS has also written several op-eds and letters in support or opposition of important local and national legislation. Keep your eyes out for emails requesting calls to action on legislative items that need more support. If you would like to get involved with the advocacy efforts of the NHPS, please reach out to Catrina Watson at Catrina.Watson@nhms.org. The legislative committee meets regularly during the legislative season to discuss what bills we plan to take action on as a society.

NHPS Regular Business Meetings

Mark your calendar for the upcoming NHPS Regular Business meetings. These are held the first Wednesday of the month at 6pm and meet every other month. The next meeting will be Wednesday, September 2nd at 6pm. The Zoom link will be emailed to you closer to the date. All members are welcome to join.

NHPS sponsored events

We would like to encourage members to host NHPS sponsored events that will benefit the psychiatrists or patients whom we serve in New Hampshire. If you would like to host a NHPS sponsored event, please fill out this form and submit to Catrina Watson at catrina.watson@nhms.org for consideration among the board.

Prior Events

2026 NHPS annual meeting

We had a successful annual meeting with a number of great speakers and panels. Topics included monoclonal antibody treatments in Alzheimer’s dementia, climate change and mental health, mental health red flag gun laws, and local/national advocacy opportunities. Congratulations to Dr. Wendy Barros who was the recipient of the 2026 NHPS leadership award.

2025 Annual Cruise

We had wonderful company and weather for the annual Cruise, held in the beautiful town of Portsmouth. NHPS members from all over the state joined on a sunny, fall day. Next fall the cruise will return to the Sunapee, NH area. We hope you will join!

2026 Advocacy Day

We had a great turn out for our annual advocacy day, with a number of PGY4 Dartmouth and Portsmouth psychiatry residents joining. New Futures led a fun and educational day that included a legislative breakfast, several sessions about the legislative process and ways to effectively advocate, and a tour of the New Hampshire State House. We look forward already to next year’s Advocacy Day.
